INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my teaching page! Below you can book one-to-one online coaching sessions with me conducted via Zoom. My specialisation is in singing (vocal technique, performance, acting-through-song), but as a multidisciplinary actor, I am also able to offer coaching in acting, drama school audition preparation, going through song cuts, and more. My current rate is £50/hour for individually booked sessions and £225 for a set of 5 one-hour sessions (discounted rate of £45/hour). All levels and ages are welcome!

If you’re looking for something other than online sessions, for example if you’d like to invite me to deliver a masterclass or workshop, or hire me for regular or cover teaching at your institution, please get in touch via the booking form below. I have taught at Urdang Academy, The Dang, Emil Dale Academy, MPAA, to name a few.

MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have more than 6 years teaching experience, both privately (with clients ranging from absolute beginners to professional working actors) and at drama schools on full-time BA (Hons) Musical Theatre courses. My expertise includes but is not limited to Vocal Technique, Repertoire Coaching, Acting-Through-Song, Ensemble Singing. I hold an MA in Musical Theatre (Distinction) from the Royal Academy of Music, a Diploma in Piano, and an Enhanced DBS. I am a highly skilled pianist with strong sight-reading ability. Besides having a genuine passion in building confidence and enthusiasm in clients and students, I actively stay up to date with the latest voice science as well as first-hand industry knowledge and have a strong track record of  guiding my clients towards their individual goals.

WHAT HAPPENS IN AN ONLINE SESSION?

Every session is tailored to your needs depending on what you require: a regular singing lesson, audition preparation etc. The session will start with us discussing the plan and goal for the end of the session. In a singing lesson, we would usually begin with learning new vocal knowledge, warmup, exercises to strengthen and condition the voice, singing through of a song, application of technique to song, cooldown, debrief and a discussion on what to prepare for the next session.

My vocal knowledge is primarily rooted in the latest voice science. As a singer myself, I have gone through many teachers, absorbing different knowledge and teaching methods. I have first-hand experience of both good and bad teaching, and continuously refine my own through attending workshops and lessons. I believe a good teacher is one who communicates information effectively, builds their students’ confidence, and tailors their lessons to the students’ individual needs. I am able to teach all voice types (soprano, alto, baritone etc.) and most styles (belt, Musical Theatre, pop/rock, classical, legit, jazz).

Lastly, I set up a unique progress tracking portal for each of my clients on Notion, free of charge, which is only viewable to the client and myself. I record the audio from every lesson and also write notes for my clients, which are uploaded after every lesson. It is a very handy tool to make sure we are progressing effectively and hitting the client's goals. It also allows clients to practice along to any vocal exercises done during the lesson, or refer back to anything that they might have missed.

ZOOM?

I have taught over zoom for more than 5 years. The latest updates on Zoom allow for the most original sound quality, allowing teachers to effectively observe visually and auditorily what is happening with your voice and performing without being physically in the same studio. Besides saving both you and me the logistics of travel, it allows you to have a session with me anywhere. With the right Zoom settings, which I will guide you through, there are no barriers to what can be achieved. I unfortunately do not offer teaching in-person unless at institutions, but I assure you Zoom today is brilliant.

CANCELLING A SESSION

Please let me know 24 hours in advance if you would like to reschedule, or alternatively, cancel the lesson and qualify for a full refund. Any late changes will not be entertained and no refunds will be made. This includes any and all reasons, including illness. Please do not attend your lesson if you have an illness that affects your voice, as singing will only cause more damage.

Due to the uncertainty of my acting work, I reserve the right to cancel or postpone the lesson at any time up until the commencement of the lesson. Please rest assured that I always try my best to stick to booked lessons, and in the case that I cannot, I always do my very best to give 24 hours’ notice. In the case that we are unable to reschedule the lesson, I will provide a full refund.
